Spotlight on Cheltenham – insight from our housing needs survey
Our South West team, freshly settled into their new offices in Cheltenham, have been engaging with the local community to better understand their housing needs and concerns
Reaching a wide range of residents our studies provide a timely pulse check on community attitudes to development, as well as important insight for those in the built environment sector.
Cheltenham key findings for include:
Broad support for new housing, even among mortgage-free homeowners.
Strong recognition of the housing crisis, with widespread acceptance of the need for new homes, provided they’re accompanied by appropriate social and green infrastructure.
Affordability remains the top concern, with rising costs affecting all tenures and prompting many to question their future in the town.
Older residents are most supportive of smaller homes, including apartments for downsizing, challenging common assumptions.
Younger residents favour houses over flats, highlighting a generational divide in housing preferences.
