Positive vision for rooftop bar
This project is a great example of how early, meaningful engagement to build local relationships can unlock ambitious development in sensitive locations.
Our South West team set their sights high and were not disappointed with a committee approval, against a recommendation for refusal, for the transformative redevelopment of the Cathedral Hotel in Salisbury, complete with a rooftop bar and Spitfire-themed terrace.
Appointed by Larasian Ltd, the team worked closely with local stakeholders, including community groups, business leaders and elected representatives, to build consensus around the vision to sensitively renovate the vacant Grade II listed building to meet Salisbury’s gap in high-end hotel provision.
A collaborative engagement strategy ensured that local voices were heard, helping to navigate heritage sensitivities and Salisbury’s strict Skyline Policy. Local engagement highlighted the need for a high-quality hotel in the City and strong support for a landmark attraction, which weighed strongly in the balance and resulted in a scheme that not only revitalises a listed building, but also enhances the city’s hospitality offer and will provide a huge boost for the local economy.
