Masterplan SPD and planning application for c. 1,000 homes
The challenge
Vistry Group needed to promote a site for circa 1,000 homes through the Chelmsford City Council Local Plan, requiring years of engagement with an extremely broad range of political, statutory and community stakeholders.
Our approach
DevComms implemented a wide range of consultation mechanisms over many years: workshops, virtual reality exhibitions, social media engagement, newsletter mailings, meetings and other engagement forms. This extensive programme supported both the Masterplan SPD approval and the subsequent planning application.
The outcome
The Masterplan was approved as an SPD in 2021 and the planning application was approved in February 2023. South Woodham Ferrers Town Council described the engagement as a model for future developments.
